You can use desiccated coconut, flakes or shredded coconut. The flakes will take a bit longer but they work. <strong>Just make sure your coconut has no sugar or added ingredients.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You&rsquo;ll also need a food processor for this recipe. I find that I get the consistency I like with a food processor. I use this <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3y6fv3C\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Cuisinart 14 cup food processor<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-coconut-butter\">How to Make Coconut Butter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This recipe couldn&rsquo;t be any simpler! Add your shredded coconut to your food processor and process until smooth. You&rsquo;ll need to scrape down the bowl and blades of your food processor every 1-2 minutes. If you are using a blender I&rsquo;d recommend using a high-powered blender like a Vitamix.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1721663439900\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Is coconut butter healthy?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Yes &ndash; this coconut butter recipe contains only one ingredient: coconuts! Coconuts are a great source of MCT oils which are great though should be consumed in moderation. Coconut butter is also a great source of fiber and other vitamins + minerals (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/coconut-meat\">source<\/a>).<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1721663621195\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Can I use coconut oil?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Unfortunately no. Coconut butter is made from coconut meat which contains the fibrous coconut meat and includes coconut oil. Do not try to make coconut butter with coconut oil.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1721663843583\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Can I toast my coconut butter?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Yes you can! For a toasted coconut butter toast your coconut flakes in the oven for roughly 5 minutes (at 350 degrees F). Continue the recipe as directed.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1721683105045\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Can I add any flavorings?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">If you&rsquo;d like you can stir in some spices AFTER processing your coconut. Cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cardamom are all delicious.<\/p> <\/div> <\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-storage-instructions\">Storage Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Keep your coconut butter at room temperature for up to 6 months. Store in a sealed jar or airtight container.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For longer storage you can keep it in the fridge but note that it will harden in the fridge. I also love dripping it onto these <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehealthymaven.com\/protein-waffles\/\">protein waffles<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>In smoothies<\/strong> &ndash; blend right into your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehealthymaven.com\/category\/drinks\/smoothies\/\">smoothies<\/a> or as a topping onto a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehealthymaven.com\/how-to-make-an-acai-bowl\/\">smoothie bowl<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>On ice cream<\/strong>&ndash; I can attest that this coconut butter recipe tastes delicious on this <a
